Game journalism day 4

In the Long Dark there is many ways to die.
Though i tried to record these deaths most of my recordings were too long to post and i did not have the chance to cut them down. I will put in a description on each death and how to avoid it

Wolf Attack: This death is pretty self explanatory, you get attacked by a wolf and die. Wolves will not kill you in one attack, more like 3-4 but they latch on to you leaving you with after affects such as torn clothing ,bleeding or even an infection among others. Even though wolf attacks don't kill you right away unless you scare away the wolf or kill it the wolf will attack again. You can use a rifle to shoot the wolf or use a flare or other sources of light like a fire to scare away the predator. Another way to distract the wolf is to drop meat as a distraction.

Bear attack: Much like the wolf the bear is a living predator that will attack the player. Bears though are much tougher than wolves and can kill you in 1 or 2 attacks. They also are not scared away by flares or fire and take more bullets to kill. The most effective ways to not get killed by bears is to keep your distance or drop meat as a last resort to distract the bear.

Burning: When creating a fire you can burn yourself to death. The simple easy way to avoid this death is to not jump into a fire while its burning.

Hypothermia: While out scavenging or hunting you might be faced with the challenge of hypothermia. Hypothermia sets in when the player becomes too cold and it slowly begins to drain your health. Wearing less, wet or damaged clothes increase the chance of getting hypothermia sooner. Easy ways to prevent it are finding warmer clothes such as a parka, placing a fire or hiding in a heated structure such as the starting cabin.

Food Poison/starvation: In the game world if you eat meat while it's raw you can poison your character. If you eat raw food you can take antibiotics or drink tea to help recover from the poison. another way to prevent it is to cook the meat above a fire. Starvation is when you don't eat food. the only way to prevent this is to eat food such as meat from hunting or small snacks you find in searchable containers.

Dehydration: Dehydration is when you don't drink enough liquids and the way to prevent this is to drink clean water or other drinks found in the map

infection: Infections are when you get bit by an animal and you don't clean the wound. The easy way to avoid this is avoid wolves and bears. but if you are forced to defend yourself and get infected take antibitoics or drink tea and rest.

Fall: If you find yourself at an elevated position be careful where you step. Falling also brings the risk of death. The ways to avoid death is by being careful at high elevations and just avoiding height in general

Game Journalism day 3

The challenge to find the flare pistol has to be completed within 1 week or 7 days of in game time.An hour of real life time is about 12 in game hours depending on activities in the game that accelerate time.
A good source to get food is to go out in the world and search for a fishing hut to fish. Fishing can be a challenge in game. To fish you have to make fishing tackle which is made from dried out guts which dry on a floor over 5 days. This brings the challenge of timing because the challenge has to be completed in 7 days leaving only 2 extra days to find the fishing hut and catch a fish. Because of these difficulties i was not able to find a ice fishing hut in my play through. On the third day i did a lot of exploring and searched for a ice fishing hut i ended up searching the hydro dam and found a bunch of useful loot

Game Journalism Day 2

The Challenge of this game is to find the flare pistol and shoot it at the top of timberwolf mountain to see if there was any survivors.

If you become thirsty in game there is a way to get easy water. When lighting a stove or making a fire outside you have an option to melt and boil snow to get litres of water to pot and drink later.

Scattered around the map is corpses. These are previous people (in game not actual players) who have met there fate at the hands of timberwolf mountain. The Corpses usually have useful items next to them and can be searched to find loot. The first corpse i saw had a hatchet next to it which helped me through my first play through.

When playing in the open world if you do not have warm clothing you will get a symbol at the bottom of your screen saying you are at risk of hypothermia. The easiest way to get out of the cold is to find shelter. Some shelters are still susceptible to cold but protect you from windchill. In my walkthrough i found these 3. A tunnel, A train car and the hydro dam.
